World Book Day! (VIDEO)

How does World Book Day relate to CV writing?  Watch this video to find out!

Transcript:

Oh, hi!  You just caught me celebrating World Book Day by reading a book.  I’ve been reading this book for a very long time, and it got me thinking. Can a book ever be too long? Yes, it can! In the same way, can a CV ever be too long? Yes, it can. It can also be too short.

Standard advice given to graduates is to make your CV one or two pages at the most.  And that is good advice because as a graduate, usually you don’t have all that much work experience to put in there, therefore longer than that is unnecessary, but the longer your career goes on, the more experience you have and the more you should write about. There is a limit, of course.

I’ve seen 20 page CVs that have really put me off – and put other people off as well.  But somewhere in the middle is fine. Three or four pages is usually no problem at all. So if it’s relevant, put it in there, refine it, edit it, and put it out.

And good luck!
