Today’s lesson: PERSISTENCE
My 7-year-old daughter is being pursued by a boy in her class. I think she’s a bit young to have a proper boyfriend, but I have to admire his methods.
Have a look at the screenshot to see the exchange. First, he asks a direct question. He receives a non-committal reply 42 minutes later and IMMEDIATELY asks a follow-up. He just wants to know where he stands, so that he can move on.
We can apply this philosophy to the job-seeking process. You might not get the answer you want from the first opportunity, but you can look for ways to improve your approach and move on to the next. Make sure you refine your application each time, and don’t be afraid to ask for feedback.
So – if you’re looking for work, then persistence (plus learning from your mistakes) is the key to success.

P.S. I’ve obscured his name to preserve his anonymity, but I don’t know if he’d actually care. He’s probably not even on LinkedIn.
