What Challenges Were Potter Clarkson Facing?

When Potter Clarkson approached us, they were in search of a Technical Software Lead for their firm.

It was important that the right candidate be both technically hands-on, as well as have the right behaviours to effectively manage and lead their existing IT team.

With a clear specification of the type of candidate Potter Clarkson were looking for in mind, the Blues Point team got to work.

How Did Blues Point Help Potter Clarkson?

Working closely with Potter Clarkson, Blues Point created a recruitment timetable and detailed job brief. This included all of the ideal candidate’s technical and personal qualities, the challenges the candidate would face and what they would need to achieve in order to be successful.

In order to objectively validate the candidates’ fit for the role and organisation, it was agreed that the following assessments would be incorporated into the recruitment project:

IKM TeckCheck – an objective measure of a candidate’s technical capability; theoretical and applied.

Personality Profiling Assessment (PPA) – a short but insightful assessment which looks at the candidate’s behaviours.

Motivational Maps – an analysis of the what motivates the candidate within their working life.

It was then agreed that Blues Point would carry out all first-stage interviews at the Potter Clarkson offices, providing detailed interview notes and recommendations as to each candidate’s suitability using a competency based interview format.

What Was The Outcome?

It took Blues Point 6 weeks to source the perfect candidate for Potter Clarkson. And with that, the firm had the right person in place to lead their IT development team.

As part of the process that we used, we were also able to provide Potter Clarkson with a management plan, based on the candidate’s behaviours.

And as a result, Potter Clarkson had the tools to effectively manage, engage and retain the successful candidate, allowing them to build this into their on-boarding and induction program.
